Although I thought I already had my dream property, when combined with the job opportunity this surely beats everything.
I came across it on another blog a few weeks ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. 'Knitters wanted for Fair Isle', National Trust properties to rent, population 65. I think this encapsulates all my dreams in one - knitting (fair isle being my favourite), lovely old property, loads of open space, by the sea (anywhere you go) and very few people. Perfect.
Finally finished Squarey, isn't he cute. I knitted most of him back in November but only just got around to sewing him together. He was supposed to be for peaheads computer chair, but I love him so much I think he is going to have to live on the sofa in the front room. Toys with a practical purpose, brilliant.
Phew, finally handed in all of my essays for last term. I have to go to London tomorrow for work, but after that the weekend is mine. I can't wait.
Today I am working from home. I just took a break to walk Bert down the lane and spotted a wild deer. I could kick myself for not having my camera but it was wonderful to see. It stood and looked back at me for a couple of seconds before it gracefully jumped the fence and ran off into the woods. I'm so pleased I saw it as it's been ages since I spotted one and was worried they had all been killed.
Last year we saw them in groups of fours and fives, sometimes with two or three babies but I know several have been killed by speeding cars and hunters since then. I spotted tracks of a pair in the snow just before Christmas, but feared these too had been killed in the New Year as killing wild animals (deer, badgers and rabbits) seems to be a popular New Years holiday persuit by some local idiots. I just hope this one isn't the last.
I am not sure what kind of deer they are, but have been told by locals these are Japanese rather than the more common Roe Deer.
Having a break at Christmas was great, but it just means that there is twice as much to do back at work. I'm sick of not getting home until 8pm and then having to think about doing stuff for uni when all I really want to do is play with white cat and do a bit of knitting.Anyway.....enough moaning. I'm supposed to be writing another an essay, but I just wanted to post a quick update about white cat. Yes, he is still with us. Despite putting up posters and getting Rosie (my neighbour) to ask at all the farms and houses when she does her paper round, no one seems to know who he is. He has settled in very well (perhaps too well....I'm not sure I could cope with five cats!) although I have had to try and wash him as he is very dirty and smelly. Not sure what to do now. If no one comes for him, I guess I'll try and find him a new home. I'm sure someone will take him as he is a lovely cat, very friendly and just likes to sleep, eat and cuddle. I think he is quite old.
Found a cat.
