I have started my rug with the giant knitting needles dad made me for Christmas. It's surprisingly easy, although it's going to take much more material than I imagined. To knit this much I used two metres of thick wool fabric. I only bought four metres, but figure for it to pass as a rug rather than a door mat I'll need at least eight to ten metres!. Luckily I found a great remnant shop in Nelson yesterday and the fabric I'm using is only a £1 a metre.
Whilst in Nelson I also picked up these old embroidery prints. I have no idea how to embroider them, but I thought they were really pretty. I also got an embroidery ring and two stitch holders - all for a grand total of 30p. I love charity shops.
