A budding botanist?

Last week at the supermarket, Kitty asked if she could have some little bulbs. She has been keeping an eye
on them and says she is waiting for the flowers to come as then it will be Spring.

This week, she had £2 to spend and Daddy said she could look at the kids magazines. She didn't want to. She chose a pretty white Primula, £1.75.

Return of the fence

After a grumpy neighbour repeatedly pulled down the fence we put up to keep Kitty, Bert and the goats safe from the lane, we had kind of given up with it. Early this morning as the snow was starting to fall, a more reasonable neighbour (and one who likes the fence as it keeps his little dog safe too) came along with new materials and some fencing tools and put the fence back properly. He even added a little gate so that I can get my wheel barrow through.  More importantly, he also seems to have got the grumpy neighbour back on-side, so hopefully she will leave it alone.
I offered to pay him, but he wouldn't accept. I guess there is still some good will left up here.
I'm over the moon. We have bought blue hyacinths and chocolates as a thank you.

Winter white

We had a lot of fun in the snow, but now we have no water and our boiler has broken down so it's feeling pretty cold up here.

Green is good

Kitty finally agreed with me that Green is a good colour and will wear her new cardigan.
She also doodled this pretty impressive spider. I like the way it crosses the pages.

Monster cardigan

I have almost completed Kit's latest hand knit. This little pea green number has taken longer than normal as her extreme dislike for the colour demotivated me somewhat. However, after playing monsters with our cool hand tattoos today she finally decided that she liked monster green and would consider wearing it.

Happy new year sam

The plan worked and mum and dad came to pick up little brown cat this new years bank holiday.
He still has a pretty bad cold and I think living on the streets has taken its toll on his teeth and gums, but he has certainly landed firmly on his feet this new year as a home at my mums house guarantees a life of love and luxury for any animal. My mum is as mad as boiled snake, but her heart is in the right place and over the years she has taken in her fair share of waifs and strays. Dad didn't seem quite so keen on the new addition to the Simpson household, but he is a softy too and I know given a few days with the friendly little fella, he'll be won over too. From now on his name is Sam after my grandad, what an honour.

I recently stumbled upon a house for sale and can't stop obsessing over it. Dad being here for the weekend didnt help matters as he only encourages me - what i view as a 'dream' he suggests is just a matter of a bit of building work and a gas supply. If only I could find a few hundred thousand pounds we would be up there enjoying the freedom of a mere 28 acres of prime Yorkshire soil. hmmm...maybe I'll speak to the bank tomorrow.

Cake and candles

Kitty used her lovely baking presents from Auntie Alison to make some yummy cakes for our little New Year party.
