Valentine weekend

It's been a quite week. I had a go (with disappointing results) at using my Sukie iron-on transfers. Kitty's bear top was the only acceptable item, and this still has quite a faded appearance. The rest were just rubbish. I don't think my iron gets hot enough.





















I made a new rubber stamp which doubles for valentines and anniversaries (Happy 1st Anniversary Mr & Mrs Khan! have a great holiday).

Rei has had a nasty accident (the squeamish - look away now).















He caught his ear tag on the fence and ripped his ear in two. He has had some medicine and lots of tlc and seems ok, despite the horror of it. I never liked those ear tags, it juts seems barbaric. Both of poor Rei's ears are now scarred by the stupid things. They are actually a legal requirement for livestock like cows, sheep and goats since foot and mouth, but I will now be part of the campaign to change this. I can almost understand that animals like this need to have ID, but a tattoo or microchip would be much more humane. Plastic tags are just hideous and cause pointless suffering for farm animals.

On a more pleasant note, Kitty loves goats and books so today we bought her four nice story books. My favourite of which is 'Tell Me a Story Mummy' which is about a little goat called Salsa who can't sleep. Bargain - four books for £5.00 at The Works.

Peahead had another gig on Friday (a friend took a picture, but it's tiny). I couldn't go as babysitters are pretty scarce around here, but all went well and apparently there is interest from the organiser of the Wychwood Festival for them to play. Keep your diaries free the last weekend in may, as it's a great family event by all accounts.

Winter wonderland

This was both a wintery and a bust week. I started back at work on Monday, Kitty went for her first full day with Sam and it snowed like mad.

What wellies, where?!!

With snow drifts a couple of feet high, I didn't manage to make it to work on Tuesday (not a good start really).

Wednesday was better, but I had to work late (nothing like easing me in gently!!). Kit was ok as Grandma and Grandad Pih came over to entertain her.

Grandma Pih stayed over for a couple of days. We didn't get uo to much as there was still lots of snow outside, but this gave her chance to finish the lovely little tank-top she has been knitting for Kitty.

On Friday, Daddy had the day off too, so we went to Manchetser for some shopping/lunch before taking Grandma Pih home. I took lots of nice pictures, but for some reason they won't download from my camera.

We went for noodles and then visited Magma books, one of my favourite shops. I could spend a lot of money in there. Grandma Pih bought Kitty a lovely little golden books print of 'I can fly' and I bought a pack of Sukie iron-on transfers. I plan to jazz up some of Kitty's onezies and Peahead wants a new t-shirt to wear at his Motion Picture Association gig on Friday at The Vine in Sowerby Bridge.

New things

I got Kitty a lovely stripey merino wool body from ebay. It's pre-loved, but was only a few pounds and is a really nice one from Cambridge Baby. It is so soft, warm and snuggley and perfect for wiggling in. Kitty's big thing at the moment is wiggling lots and she has finally mastered rolling over.

Daddy bought Kitty a new mouli from a posh kitchen shop in Hebden. We bought one of the Annabel Karmel ones from ebay, but it was rubbish. This one is amazing. Perfect for things like dried apricots, prunes, sweetcorn etc which don't do well in the blender.

I also got some nice purple Rowan wool (darker than it looks in the picture) to make Kitty a new cardigan. Not sure when I'll have time to make it once I'm back at work. Maybe I'll stash it in my bag and do a few rows between meetings!

I already started this little dress to use up three odd balls of wool, but I'm not convinced it is big enough. I can't decide whether to carry on or to start again in a bigger size. It knits quite quickly as it's on the round, but it's annoying having to unpick something once you get a way in. I guess I'll be more annoyed if I finish it and it is too small.

Late thank you

Ben sent us not one, but two lovely thank you cards for his Christmas present! Which reminded us to get on with ours. It's almost February!!!

I helped Kitty sign them. They'll be in the post tomorrow.

Kitty has been to see her new child minder Sam a couple of times this week and seems pretty happy with the arrangement. She'll be starting three days a week from Monday and I'll be back at work. I have bought some new shoes and a bag to smarten myself up a bit, but I'm hoping my pre-pregancy work clothes will still fit. Might be a squeeze - a few weeks of rice cakes for lunch me-thinks!

Getting organised

Now that Kitty is enjoying a hearty breakfast, dinner and tea (and the sofa is covered in food spills) we thought it was time for a high chair. This one from Ikea was only £10 and works a treat.





















The knitted shoes are semi-successful. She'll keep them on for a while, but can get them off if she wants to. I'm going to try another pair with elastic.

We have found a nice childminder. Kitty is going to spend some time with her next week before I go back to work. Fingers crossed they get on!

......Oh by the way - we found the pony's owner. Thank goodness! I don't think we could manage another animal around here. Her name is Ebony and she had just decided to go for a walk by herself.

My little pony

Today I found a pony. I'm hoping that it belongs to one of the local farms and not that someone has just dumped it up here. I have put it in the field for now. It's a friendly little thing, but it stinks.

I took Kitty to get weighed for the first time since she has started eating real food. She isn't gaining quite as fast as she was, but she is still a porker - at the top of the chart! 20lbs 5 oz.

Cold feet

I finished another little top for Kitty. Same design as the red one, I like these as they are really quick to make and only take a fat quarter of fabric. The picture doesn't show it too well, it is actually much brighter orange and pink than it looks here. Really sunny.

I made some little shoes to go with it. She always has cold feet as she just won't keep anything on - socks, shoes, slippers, boots, I have tried the lot. Hopefully these might stay on as I made the strap quite tight.

I started making some boots before Christmas, but I think they might be too small now as she is growing so fast.
