New home ?

Since we lost Bo, I have been looking for a new home for Rei that would offer him some company. No luck so far but today we visited a lovely lady who may be able to help. She doesn't have goats so it's not perfect, but she does have nine acres, a stable block, two really friendly sheep called Doris (!) and Minstrel and what seems like lots of love and time for animals. We had a good look around and showed her photos of Rei and she seems happy to give it a go. They would all live together so Rei would be able to play with the sheep and snuggle up with them at night.

The lady rescued the sheep from a farm. They were in a very poor state when she found them and after nursing them back to health, she couldn't give them up so paid the farmer so she could keep them. They are now the happiest looking sheep I have ever seen. She knows nothing about goats but I'm sure she would take good care of Rei. It's only about 10 miles away so I could visit and make sure he is ok.  It is really hard to think about giving him up, but I know I have to do something as he is so lonely without Bo and i just cant take on another animal. I am going to think it through this week before making a decision. I have had a chat with Rei about it.

Friday treat

Friday night family bowling enjoyed by all. £20 well spent.

School run

We are not really a family of routine, but things are finally starting to come together and there is now a glimmer of order to our mornings. From what was originally complete chaos as we all tried to wash, eat, dress, get in the car and to school on time with all our belongings, has now become a relatively calm and almost fun start to our day.

Kitty is being a really big girl and dresses and washes herself while I see to Bubba. Once in her car seat, Bubba spends most of the trip asleep. We leave early to make sure we have time to park a good way from the school and enjoy a bit of a morning walk. Kitty likes to have plenty of time to play with her friends before the bell, and surprisingly I too enjoy spending a bit of time receiving compliments on Bubba and chatting to the other mums in the playground.

Once the weather gets a little better, we will probably introduce Bert to the joys of the school run too.

Snow day

Kitty has been feeling a little under the weather with a bad cough and running a temperature. She had a day off school to rest but once the snow started, we couldn't resist venturing out for a little while.

The snow came in really quick over the valley and before we knew it, we couldn't see more than 100 mtrs. All inside for a hot milk.

A name

Our little Bubba finally has a proper name. After much deliberation and compromise we finally agreed on Ira Lam. It's going to take a little getting used to as it wasn't my first choice, but I think she will grow into it.

Ira is of Hebrew origin, meaning watchful. When female, it also means water and earth. Lam is Chinese and its literal translation is woods, trees or forest. When used as a girls name it means peace.

It is good to be home.

No. 2

A few days late, but perfect in every way. After hours of labour, our second little babe arrived via c-section at 1.16pm on Friday 28th December 2012. 8lbs 7oz. As of yet, no name. For now, just Bubba.

Peahead was amazing. When he could see I was really struggling he pretty much insisted on an emergency c-section. The surgeon said it was a good job he did as we might both have been in trouble due to some complications. Thanks Peahead. xx

First christmas at home

Due to the imminent arrival of our new little babe (due date 25th December), we thought it unwise to make the usual trip to one or the other grandparents houses for Christmas. For the first time, we spent Christmas day in our own home. Although we missed everyone, it was quite nice to put out the stockings on our own fireplace, wake up in our own beds and make our very own Christmas dinner (and no smell of roast turkey!).

We didn't miss out though as we Skyped everyone we know and then on Boxing Day (as babe had still not put in an appearance) EVERYONE descended on us! It was quite a squish in our little house and as this wasn't a planned event, we didn't have much food in to cater for so many visitors. However, Daddy some how managed to pull off quite a good 'everything in the fridge' veggie curry and all were fed and watered - sitting, standing, kneeling - with a mish-mash of odd plates, cutlery, glasses and mugs. A noisy but nice day.
