Showing off

A weekend of proper showing off, with both sets of grandparents visiting.

Spring sunshine

Today was a good day. No work, first sunshine, spring bulbs finally showing and two parcels arrived.

Wool to quickly knit a present for new baby Tommy (expected soon by Kitty's nursery teacher) and Wildwood, a lovely book I pre-ordered for Kit and me before Christmas. It tells the tale of two children who brave the wilderness after a baby is kidnapped by crows. I really like the illustrations, especially the maps.

The best cheese and onion pie ever

Kitty's nursery are trying to raise some money by making a recipe book. We contributed our best ever cheese and onion pie. Can't wait to see the book.

A budding botanist?

Last week at the supermarket, Kitty asked if she could have some little bulbs. She has been keeping an eye
on them and says she is waiting for the flowers to come as then it will be Spring.

This week, she had £2 to spend and Daddy said she could look at the kids magazines. She didn't want to. She chose a pretty white Primula, £1.75.

Return of the fence

After a grumpy neighbour repeatedly pulled down the fence we put up to keep Kitty, Bert and the goats safe from the lane, we had kind of given up with it. Early this morning as the snow was starting to fall, a more reasonable neighbour (and one who likes the fence as it keeps his little dog safe too) came along with new materials and some fencing tools and put the fence back properly. He even added a little gate so that I can get my wheel barrow through.  More importantly, he also seems to have got the grumpy neighbour back on-side, so hopefully she will leave it alone.
I offered to pay him, but he wouldn't accept. I guess there is still some good will left up here.
I'm over the moon. We have bought blue hyacinths and chocolates as a thank you.

Winter white

We had a lot of fun in the snow, but now we have no water and our boiler has broken down so it's feeling pretty cold up here.
