Sunny Southport
The sun came out, so we got up early and set off for the seaside.
Sand, Southport mud, BBQ, ice-cream, candy floss, pier, fairground rides, go-carting, kite flying, two tired children and two very tired adults.

Cousins
Olive and Gabriel where up at Grandma and Grandad Pih's house over the Bank Holiday weekend, so we went to play. A few boxes and a tent in the garden provided hours of fun.

Steam
We spent a few sunny days with Mama and Grandad in Derbyshire. Highlights included scrumping raspberries from Great Mama Kitty's garden, a bit of genealogy around Pentrich, a day in Matlock and a trip to Chesterfield Flea Market.
Matlock was really hot and sunny and after playing in the park we decided to take a trip on the Peak Rail steam train which runs just 4 miles between Matlock and Rowsley. We jumped off at Rowsley for ice ream and lemonade and then took a second run out, this time stopping off at Darley Dale to have a look at the Museum. In all a really good day.
Treasures from Chesterfield Market (which is brilliant) included two pieces of pretty French cotton fabric, perfect for some little trousers for Ira and two vintage handkerchiefs which now double as sweet little dribble bibs. Kitty spotted a "real" Princess crown, "it's not a plastic one from Disney" she whispered to me slyly after she had negotiated a bargain £2 price tag with the stall holder.

A tooth!
Bubs has a tooth poking through. I tried and tried to get a picture but she wouldn't cooperate. I finally gave up and gave her the camera to play with. Amazingly she managed to take a snap of herself and if you look real hard, you can just about see it.

Weaving and pottery
A bit of local history at Queen Street Mill. Kitty loved the giant weaving and I really liked looking at the old looms. Best of all was a pottery craft session in the old weaving shed. Kitty made a wall hanging with her name on, a small coil pot and a little man with wild hair. I made a small fox. Bubs just watched and shouted a lot.

Pond dipping
There is always something new to do. Today, pond dipping at Wycoller. We caught two big bull beetles, a few fish, a red mud worm and a couple of water snails.

Inspired
Both bowls will be fired at the weekend. I can't wait to see what they look like when we pick them up next week.
Kitty was in awe of the building at the side of the canal - and how on earth it could have been built into the water!

Wheels
We routed out Kitty's old trike. She carefully washed it down with soapy water, gave it a polish with a cloth and declared it fit to give to Ira.
Ira was thrilled. We went for a walk/ride.

We were on the look out for some other kids to play with. We didn't find any, but we met some bees....
......and some friendly dogs.
