Little brown cat
Another little cat has been hanging around for a few weeks. As the weather turned bad, i started leaving the shed door open a bit so that he could sneak in and Kit has been leaving him biscuits in the porch. Last night the weather was evil and he looked really frightened, so we brought him in. He was very smelly and cold, so we gave him a quick rub down, a belly full food and a warm blanket.
He's a very friendly little fella. I'm working on my mum in the hope that she may take him.

Amazing ice-cream
We had a lovely Christmas visiting family and friends. As usual this involved LOTS of travelling up and down the country, but we made the most of it by stopping where we could to enjoy some festive family time and good food en route. We all loved the Boxing Day menu at the Rams Head in Disley.

Eugene makes a Christmas call
We still miss Eugene, but he popped in to see us on his way to his grandmas for Christmas. We had a little prezzie waiting for him under the tree. He is happy with Izod and Jenny, but when he's here it feels like he is still our dog.
Bert is feeling a little low today. I think his eyes are getting much worse. He wasn't really that happy to be reunited with Eugine.

Advent adventures
Kit's creativity is blooming on the new iPad.
We visited a lovely cafe/vintage shop/craft workshop in Burnley today while christmas shopping. How refreshing, if things keep up this way, we won't have to move to Yorkshire.
Kitty has been helping our friend Fran make Christmas cakes.
A few jingle bells and a bit of green felt, turned Kits halloween cat costume into a 'Christmas cat' (!) costume for the nursery Christmas party.

The polar bear and the reindeer
Tonight was the last of our Christmas events in town. Despite the fact that it rained all evening and we all got drenched, it all went well and we had a good turn out. Kit and daddy came along for a while. We all liked the polar bear and the reindeer best.
I can finally start to relax and enjoy Christmas now all of our big events are over. Few.

Letter to Santa
The three kings
The parents have all been asked to contribute to a homemade nativity at nursery. We were allocated the task of making the three kings. We have become quite attached to these little pipe cleaner guys but today was the day to hand them over to nursery. God speed three kings, don't forget to feed the camel.
kit also helped me set up the nativity scene in the town centre this weekend.

Two down, one more to go
With two Christmas lights switch-ons this week, as well as several very late nights working on preparations we are all feeling very tired. But tonight's event was a particularly rewarding one as so many people came and enjoyed the show. With Peppa Pig as the special guest, I think we certainly made a couple of thousand children very happy tonight. Kitty, of course got a special VIP pass to come back stage with mummy and meet Peppa face to face, but to be honest I think the opportunity was wasted on her. She certainly isn't a celebrity chaser and was less than impressed.
Also this week was my birthday. Getting old now, but decided not to worry about it. Just happy to be healthy and here. Got lots of really lovely presents and cards - thanks everyone, especially Peahead and Kitty who got me a fab iPad. Xx

New shoes
Kitty has had a bit of a growth spurt recently and I noticed that her favourite boots were getting a bit tight at the toe. So, this morning we went to the shoe shop early and she picked some really smart new ones.

A visit to the park followed.

I love the fact that we still have a few flowers in the garden, despite the fact that it's November.

Eye-spy the Midlands

A trip to Derbyshire to visit family.
Kit was keen to take a close look at everything at Great Mama Kitty's house.....

...including Great Mama!

Fun and cuddles.
Kit braved the bungee-trampoline in Chesterfield. We were both nervous at first (me watching and Kit strapped in) but she soon got the hang of it and really enjoyed herself.

Later we visited Auntie Alison and Uncle O'Neil.
Kitty and Alison had a great time putting on Halloween makeup.

Even O'Neil got some.

How many nails does it take to build a goat shed?
It's taken some hard work, three million nails and weeks of painting and gluing in every precious moment between one rain storm and another, sometimes even by torch-light just to make the most of a dry hour......but.......Bo & Rei finally moved into their new luxury pad today.

We still need to do some work on the fence and I'm not convinced they won't be able to rip up the rubber flooring, but the weather has turned so rough over the last week we just wanted to get them into the warm.

They were both a little nervous at first. Kitty did her best to encourage them in.
Kitty said she wanted to live in the new shed with the goats.

Eventually Rei braved it and soon after Bo followed.

It's so comfy and warm. They are very happy with it and hopefully with all the new storage and easy clean floor it will be much easier for me too.

This is what a very happy goat looks like. Thanks for all the help, mum, dad, Peahead, Kitty and Bert (who is now an excellent goat herder).

Light Night
Through work, I am hoping to organise a Light Night for our town centre next year, so I took Peahead and Kitty to check out the one in Bury last night. Oh my, it was good. There was so much happening and so many people, the atmosphere was amazing. We all really enjoyed ourselves.
I loved 'Funbrellas' which cleverly dressed a building undergoing some renovations.
We spent quite a while finding our way through the Candle-lit Labyrinth.
Kitty was mesmerised by the wonderful Vecta Sketch - a light projection performance. Kitty said it was a story about a lady who could draw with the stars. Sweet.

Gig in an estate agent's window anyone?

Grand Designs
We have had two weeks off work/nursery and as an on going project, we have been building a house for Kitty' s play people from things we find. Some tile boxes from Homebase formed the shell, our recycling box provided lots of card and plastic for furniture, fixtures and fittings and we are now enjoying decorating with left over paint and wallpaper samples from B&Q. Kitty especially likes the glue. It's not quite finished yet, but inspired by Grandad's shed building over the weekend we are keen to crack on and get it done. Hopefully, by next weekend the family will be moving in to a stylish yet fully eco one bed home - only one week later than planned and massively under budget. Kevin McCloud, eat your heart out!

New goat shed - part II
Mum and Dad came back this weekend to help finish the new goat shed. Dad went a bit mad and rather than a 'goat shed', I'd say we have a full-on luxury stable, fully insulated and draft proof with shuttered windows, separate room for storage, veranda, patio area and rainwater collection (almost complete).

With the addition of heat lighting that Daddy installed and soft rubber flooring that I purchased on eBay earlier today, all we need is wi-fi and I might move in myself! Holiday let anyone?

Can pigs swim?
Another beautiful sunny summer day.....in September! Despite the heat, there was quite a bit of wind up here on the hill so we put up a wind break to shield us.
We decided that sun and wind would make the perfect conditions for sailing. A few sticks and a bit of string later, we had ourselves (what we believed to be) a sea worthy vessel. Once the sail was decorated and flag raised, Peppa Pig and a few select friends hopped aboard for the maiden voyage.
It was a little choppy, so before long a few were swimming.
Eventually, the sea got the better of us and she began to let on water.
A total capsize was inevitable. I hope pigs can swim.
