Late thank you

Ben sent us not one, but two lovely thank you cards for his Christmas present! Which reminded us to get on with ours. It's almost February!!!

I helped Kitty sign them. They'll be in the post tomorrow.
Kitty has been to see her new child minder Sam a couple of times this week and seems pretty happy with the arrangement. She'll be starting three days a week from Monday and I'll be back at work. I have bought some new shoes and a bag to smarten myself up a bit, but I'm hoping my pre-pregancy work clothes will still fit. Might be a squeeze - a few weeks of rice cakes for lunch me-thinks!

Getting organised

Now that Kitty is enjoying a hearty breakfast, dinner and tea (and the sofa is covered in food spills) we thought it was time for a high chair. This one from Ikea was only £10 and works a treat.

The knitted shoes are semi-successful. She'll keep them on for a while, but can get them off if she wants to. I'm going to try another pair with elastic.

We have found a nice childminder. Kitty is going to spend some time with her next week before I go back to work. Fingers crossed they get on!

......Oh by the way - we found the pony's owner. Thank goodness! I don't think we could manage another animal around here. Her name is Ebony and she had just decided to go for a walk by herself.

My little pony

Today I found a pony. I'm hoping that it belongs to one of the local farms and not that someone has just dumped it up here. I have put it in the field for now. It's a friendly little thing, but it stinks.

I took Kitty to get weighed for the first time since she has started eating real food. She isn't gaining quite as fast as she was, but she is still a porker - at the top of the chart! 20lbs 5 oz.

Cold feet

I finished another little top for Kitty. Same design as the red one, I like these as they are really quick to make and only take a fat quarter of fabric. The picture doesn't show it too well, it is actually much brighter orange and pink than it looks here. Really sunny.

I made some little shoes to go with it. She always has cold feet as she just won't keep anything on - socks, shoes, slippers, boots, I have tried the lot. Hopefully these might stay on as I made the strap quite tight.

I started making some boots before Christmas, but I think they might be too small now as she is growing so fast.

A nice day

Today was unusually mild, so we took the dogs for a nice long walk. Rosie came too. She told us that someone had bought the old quarry pit in front of our house and plans to put poly tunnels in the bottom of it to grow plants. Sounds a bit far fetched, but you never know!

Kitty still has lots of toys from Christmas that she hasn't really played with yet, so we decided to make an effort to try out one new thing everyday until we get through them all. Today she played with the lovely blocks that daddy bought for her from Hamleys in London.

Later, we were listening to some nice music on the radio and got inspired. First Kitty composed a few bits on her xylophone. Then things got serious as she moved on to the piano.

I'm afraid we still haven't got around to sending out thank you cards for all the lovely presents Kitty received for Christmas. Please bear with us and we'll get around to it eventually!

Kitty Simpson

School hasn't really worked out. We went a few times and although Kitty seemed ok with it, I wasn't really happy with the place. Too big, too busy and too much for a five month old. We have decided to look for somewhere more homely, perhaps a friendly childminder or a much smaller nursery.

To cheer ourselves up today we ate peaches and Simpsonized Kitty.

school daze

Today we packed Kitty's school bag and off she went for her first hour.

She seemed pretty calm about the whole thing and was very interested in all the other babies. We'll be going together until she gets used to it and then I'll have to start leaving her for a short while to see how she gets on. I'm sure she will be fine as everyone is really nice, but I'm not looking forward to it at all. I'd rather she stayed home with me, but I'm already on borrowed time as I should have gone back to work this week. If all goes well at school, Kitty will be doing three full days by February.

We called at the supermarket on the way home, and as she had been so brave I bought her a bottle of bubbles.
