moi moi

Today we visited the Chinese supermarket. Kitty sat in the trolley like a big kid.

We found some nice little bowls just right for Kitty's food. I don't like putting plastic food pots in the microwave so these are much better, they also fit nicely into the sterilizer. 40p each.

Kitty reading the Chinese newspaper.

Peahead is really into the home made chilli & pepper chutney that Steven gave him for Christmas.

First Christmas

We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandad Pih's house. Kitty hung her stocking on the fire place and left a bag of mini cheddars for Santa (we figured he would be pretty sick of mince pies by the time he got to us!)

Early next morning, Kitty found Santa had left plenty of presents. She must have been real good.

We set off to see Mama and Grandad Simpson at lunch time and by tea time Kitty's stash of presents had doubled!

Kitty checking out just some of her Christmas stash. Lots of great toys and lovely new clothes. Thanks everyone!

One of the best things Santa left her is a munchkin feeder. It has a little mesh pouch for fresh fruit or veg so she can chew on it safely all day. Highly recommended to anyone who doesn't have one.

After all the Christmas excitement, today we enjoyed a quite day at home. Kitty looked particularly pretty in her new cardigan knitted by Grandam Pih.

Christmas post

We still haven’t done all of our Christmas shopping, but hopefully we have managed to get all the presents we need to send to people we won't see in the post in time. Kitty and I went to the post office to take the last one this morning.

Kitty (the baby) has been getting to know Kitty (the cat). Already they are the best of friends.

I finished a toy I have been making for Kitty for Christmas. I'm quite pleased with it, and it only cost about a pound as I made it from bits I already had and a remnant I bought from a factory shop. I haven't included a full picture as Kitty sometimes looks at this blog!

Peahead has finished work now until the New Year. It will be nice to spend some time together. However, tonight he has gone on his works Christmas do. While he has been out I made Kitty this little red top from some patchwork fabric I had left. I think it will look cute over a white top with her little jeans. If I get chance, I might try and make some little red shoes to go with it.

Carrot face

Today's lunch was carrot. Carrot makes much more mess than apple, it would seem.

Apple sauce

I finally got my birthday blender. I have been looking for a while and really liked this one as it's small but quite powerful and we can use if for lots of other stuff as well as baby food. It was the only one left in the shop and had a blade cover missing, so Peahead did some haggling and got us a generous discount on it.
Anyway, today I have been busy trying it out, and Kitty has been busy trying out the produce! I made apple sauce and carrot puree.

Since we saw the heath visitor last, Kitty has been having a little apple or orange juice in the morning and a little bit of baby rice for lunch. Today, fresh apple sauce was a big hit.

As per usual, Kitty prefers to do it herself!

I finally finished Kitty's tangerine tank top. Phew! just a few more things to complete before Christmas now.

Can you tell what it is yet?

With some of my birthday money, I picked up this little lino printing kit from ebay. I have always wanted to have a go at printing and as this was only five pounds, I couldn't resist.

Unfortunately the roller was missing, so Peahead bought me one from the craft shop. An early Christmas present.

I made a start on some Christmas cards while Kitty was in bed last night. As it is my first attempt, they are a bit dodgy. Hopefully, I'll get better with practice.

Little cupcake

The health visitor came to speak to us about weaning today.
She gave kitty a little cup and suggested we started to use this for milk, juice and water rather than a bottle.

Kitty took to her cup straight away and insisted on drinking her apple juice by herself!

It's a beginning to look a lot like Christmas

The snow made a timely arrival on December 1st. About five inches in all. Bert and Eugie like it. The goats are not so keen. The postman couldn't get his van up the lane, so Rosie delivered the post on foot for him. The recycle bin man couldn't make it either. Tin cans for Christmas anyone?

On Thursday, Grandma Pih came over to babysit Kitty for the first time so that I could go with Uncle Robbie to see Peaheads band play in Leeds. Some of Peaheads equipment wasn't working, but it sounded great anyway. Very loud. Check out the band at Motion Picture Association (especially the track called 'Possibly a Girl' written about Kitty when she was still in my tummy).

Oh Christmas tree, how lovely are your branches.

Kitty seems to like the lights.

Only 19 days to go until Christmas. I've made Kitty a few bits and she has been really good so I'm sure Santa will bring her some little presents too. As I'm not at work right now money is pretty tight so I'm afraid presents for everyone else will be a bit limited this year. I'm sure you'll all understand. Don't worry, I promise I won't knit you all stuff though!

And finally, a plea to everyone not to go buying us lots of presents. We are just excited to be celebrating Christmas this year with Kitty and all our close friends and family, we don't need stuff for that.

What no pictures?

Sorry, having a few technical problems with my camera. Back soon.

22.11.08

Graco baby

Friends gave us a Graco baby walker. Kitty is a little small yet for walking around in it, but since she insists on standing most of the time we thought she might like to sit/stand in it for a little while. It has proved very popular. She loves the little table bit at the front which she can put her toys on. It gives her extra leverage to give frogger a good old bashing.

Note the cute cardigan bought by Auntie Alison. Also, new purple cords.......size 6 to 9 months!! Kitty is just over 3 and a half months now, so just a note of caution on sizes for anyone thinking of getting her any clothes for Christmas. She's a big girl.

Birthday

Today the weather was especially windy so our walk with the dogs was quite an experience. I think I may need to fill the bottom of the pram with weights in future to stop it blowing away. Kitty was well prepared however in her snow suit and seemed to enjoy the extreme conditions.

I received lots of cards for my birthday and some nice presents too.

New slippers from mum and dad. Always useful on a stone floor.

A beautiful cushion from Peahead. He had noticed me cooing over it in a magazine, so ordered it for me as a surprise. Way too over priced for a cushion, but I do love it. Thanks, Peahead.

I also spotted this intriguing little parcel on the piano after Peadhead had gone to work, but have resisted opening it. I'll wait until he gets home.

I got quite a bit of money from mum, dad and mama. Much appreciated. Not sure what I'm going to buy yet, but I'm considering a few different things - a little blender as I will need to start making food for Kitty in a month or so and the one I have is really rubbish. I have also been wanting a 'FURminator' for ages. I have been put off buying one before as they seem quite expensive for a pet brush, but apparently they are amazing. A new pair of boots might be good, as after 8 years (!) the ones I have are starting to look pretty scruffy. I wanted to knit Kitty a new cardigan for when she starts nursery, so some nice wool would be good too. Actually, I could probably get most of the things on my wish list - thanks guys!

I finished Kitty's little hat and have started on an orange tank top using some nice Rowan wool I have had for a while. I'm not sure there will be enough though, so I may have to put some kind of pattern on the front using a different wool. Should be ready for Christmas.

I bought Kitty a little teether as she is chewing everything in sight. It's especially good as it clips to her top so she doesn't lose it.

Water baby

Over the weekend Holly, baby Cas and little Mo the dog came to visit. Little Mo's ears are enormous.

Mama and Grandad Simpson came up to see us too. Kitty was very excited about some shiny wrapping paper. She particularly enjoyed whacking grandad on the head with it.

I started knitting another little hat for Kitty with some teal Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino I got from Attica in Hebden Bridge. I knit the last one flat but wasn't happy with the seam, so I'm knitting this one round with four needles to avoid a seam altogether.

On Sunday, we all went swimming. Kitty looked really cute in her little swimming costume that Uncle Simon and Auntie Lisa got for her. She liked being in the pool and was very nosey looking at all the other babies and children.

Pineapple kid

We have had a busy couple of weeks. Lots of visitors, outings and chores. Kitty has also had lots of new presents, despite Christmas being so close.

Last week, Kitty received her first parcel from the postman. It was a new book from Darren, Nicky and cousin Ben. She likes it a lot.
She got a new toy from the supermarket which she picked out herself. She particularly likes the bobbly bits she can put in her mouth. This month from the library she picked 'Banana!', a book about a naughty monkey who learns how to say please.

At the weekend grandma and grandad Pih came over, bringing more presents - a pretty new dress and a new singing cube toy. Darren, Nicky and Ben came up too and we all went to Hebden Bridge for the afternoon. We had lunch at a pub and Ben and Peahead fed the ducks.

When Kitty is awake, she mainly wants to sit up. Her bouncy chair is ok for a while, but daddy bought her a play doughnut to help. She really likes it as she isn't strapped in and can move around quite a bit.

Kitty is always interested in our food, so we have started to let Kitty suck on bits of fruit. Her favourites are apple and pineapple.

After all the fun over the last few days, Kitty was exhausted. She spent most of today like this.

Tonight she has gone to bed early.
